Businessman Atong Ang has reportedly left the Philippines through a “backdoor” route, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said Tuesday.
Remulla confirmed Ang’s reported departure during a press briefing on Oct. 20, saying the businessman allegedly used an unofficial route to leave the country.
Ang is believed to be in Cambodia.
“Ongoing investigation. [Sa] backdoor siya dumaan,” Remulla said.
Authorities are seeking Ang’s arrest in connection with the alleged abduction and killing of missing cockfighting enthusiasts, known as sabongeros, between 2021 and 2022.
Remulla said the investigation into Ang’s reported departure remains ongoing.
