The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) has barred all coaching staff of the Ateneo de Manila University who were present during a June 8 incident in Dipaculao from participating in any UAAP-related activities while investigations are ongoing.

In a statement released on Friday, June 19, the UAAP Board of Trustees said it approved the recommendation of the Board of Managing Directors to impose the preventive suspension on the Ateneo personnel pending the results of investigations by concerned government agencies, the university’s internal fact-finding inquiry, and the league’s own probe.

The league said the affected coaching staff are prohibited from taking part in any UAAP events “in any capacity” effective immediately, as part of what it described as a measure to preserve the integrity of the ongoing investigation and ensure transparency and due process.

“This preemptive measure… is intended to preserve the integrity of the ongoing inquiry and to ensure full transparency and due process as facts surrounding the incident are being carefully examined,” the UAAP said.

The league also set July 15, 2026 as the deadline for the submission of the official findings of Ateneo de Manila University regarding the incident.

Amid differing accounts surrounding the case, the UAAP said it will adhere to its governing rules and allow member-schools to evaluate the findings before any judgment is made.

The league stressed that accountability will be based on the outcome of a “thorough and impartial investigation” and compliance with UAAP regulations, adding that those found responsible for any wrongdoing will face sanctions under league rules.

It also extended condolences to those affected by the incident and called for justice, truth and dignity for the victims, saying their memories should lead to stronger safeguards for student-athletes to prevent similar tragedies.
