Caloocan City 3rd District Representative Dean Asistio confirmed that he met contractor Curlee Discaya—the man who implicated him in the alleged flood control irregularities.
In an ambush interview following his appearance in an executive session with the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), Asistio said the meeting occurred during an awarding ceremony of the Armed Forces of the Philippines at Camp Aguinaldo in November 2024.
According to the lawmaker, the two merely exchanged introductions. Discaya served as a presenter at the event, while Asistio was among the awardees.
"Nag-meet po kami once lang tapos parang pinakilala lang po 'ko. 'Yun lang po," said Asistio.
Meanwhile, Asistio noted he was completely transparent during his appearance before the commission, noting that he had “nothing to hide.”
However, he clarified that he did not mention any names, as he claimed there was no one who needed to be implicated.
The congressman added that he submitted an affidavit to the commission and allowed it to be made public. He was also asked by the ICI to provide documents related to the budget process for projects in his district, which he committed to submit by Friday.
Asistio further disclosed that he had informed House Speaker Bojie Dy of his decision to voluntarily appear before the Independent Commission.
