The Philippine women’s double sepaktakraw team settled for the silver medal after losing to Vietnam in the gold medal match Tuesday morning at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

The Filipino tandem of striker Jean Marie Sucalit and team captain and feeder Abegail Sinogbuhan fell to Vietnam in straight sets, 15-8, 15-4, at Court 2 of the Nagoya City Mizuho Park Gymnasium.

Sucalit and Sinogbuhan battled Vietnam in the final but struggled to overcome their opponents, who secured the gold medal with the straight-set victory.

The silver medal added to the Philippines’ medal haul in the continental competition.

As of 2 p.m. Tuesday, the Philippines ranked 18th in the official medal tally with 16 medals — two gold, three silver and 11 bronze.

The silver finish also gave the Philippine women’s double sepaktakraw squad a podium finish at the Asian Games.
