The Philippine women’s karate team secured the country’s third bronze medal on the third day of the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.

The Filipina trio of Samantha Veguillas, Ysabielle Arrogante, and Rebecca Cyril Torres on Tuesday, Sept. 22, defeated Thailand, 4-1, in the bronze-medal match to add to the nation's total medal count.

The country's medal run began Sunday, Sept. 20, when the soft tennis squad of Bien Zoleta, Princess Catindig, Christy Sañosa, Shyryn Salazar, and Hilary Paas earned a bronze podium finish following a semifinals match against host nation Japan.

Carlos Alvarez captured the second bronze for the Philippines on Monday, Sept. 21, in the men’s traditional -77kg mixed martial arts event. Alvarez dropped his semifinal bout to Kazakhstan's Yerkingali Burkutalin via a technical knockout.

As of 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, the Philippines is tied for 20th place alongside Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam. The nation’s podium finishes have come from karate, mixed martial arts, and soft tennis.

China currently leads the overall medal table with 38 total medals, followed by Japan with 32 and South Korea with 23.
