The Filipinas secured their first win in the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026, defeating Hong Kong, 2-0, Thursday at Gifu Nagaragawa Stadium.
Skye Leach put the Philippines ahead in the first half with her first goal for the country, giving the Filipinas a 1-0 lead heading into the break.
The Philippines continued to press for another goal, with Mallie Ramirez eventually doubling the advantage in the 63rd minute.
Megan Murray delivered an inviting cross into the area, allowing Ramirez, a forward, to find the far post and make it 2-0.
With the victory, the Filipinas now turn their attention to their next match against China on Sept. 21.
The Philippines and China will meet at 3 p.m. at Gifu Nagaragawa Stadium.
