Juliana Mykhail Candelaria captured the silver medal in the women’s individual poomsae event in taekwondo at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on Thursday.

Candelaria scored 9.1300 to finish second behind South Korea’s Jung Haeun, who took the gold with 9.3100.

Competing on Mat 2, Candelaria opened with a 9.200 score in Poomsae 1, highlighted by 3.620 in accuracy and 5.580 in presentation. She followed it with a 9.060 in Poomsae 2, including 5.400 in technical and 3.660 in presentation scores.

Thailand’s Thitaree Kaewolanwasu won one of the bronze medals with 9.0400, while Japan’s Yuiko Niwa also received bronze after posting 8.9100.

The silver medal raised the Philippines’ medal haul to 20, including three golds, five silvers and 12 bronzes as of 3:45 p.m. Thursday.

The Philippines is currently 17th in the overall medal standings and is closing in on its 2023 Asian Games haul in Hangzhou, where it finished with four golds, two silvers and 12 bronzes.
