Former President and Pampanga 2nd District Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has firmly denied allegations linking her to an alleged plan to replace House Speaker Faustino 'Bojie' Dy III, calling the claims “baseless and misleading.”
In a statement, Arroyo emphasized that she remains committed to unity within the House of Representatives and has no involvement in any leadership change.
“I categorically deny any participation in moves to unseat the current Speaker. Such claims are unfounded and only serve to distract from our legislative work,” she said.
The former president added that her political alliances, built over years of cooperation, remain intact. “Our mutual support, which began many years ago with his late father, remains unbroken,” Arroyo noted, referring to her longstanding ties with the Dy political family.
Arroyo’s clarification comes amid circulating rumors of internal maneuvering in the House leadership.
By addressing the issue directly, Arroyo sought to dispel doubts about her intentions and reinforce stability within the chamber, stressing that lawmakers should remain focused on legislative priorities rather than political intrigue.
