Former Senate Acting Sergeant-at-Arms Mao Aplasca has requested the National Bureau of Investigation to postpone his scheduled appearance Thursday morning, June 11, as investigations continue into the May incidents at the Senate.
The NBI is probing the May 13 Senate shooting and the alleged departure of Sen. Bato dela Rosa from the Senate premises on May 14.
In a statement, Aplasca said the request for deferment was made in light of an upcoming Senate inquiry covering the May 11 to 14 incidents.
“We requested NBI for deferment in view of the impending Senate inquiry on the May 11 to 14 incidents. The same request for deferment was also sent to CIDG last week,” Aplasca said.
He added that a similar request had already been submitted to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group last week.
Meanwhile, Pasig City Police Station chief Joselito de Sesto said he will comply with the NBI subpoena set for next Thursday, where he intends to clarify his role in the May 14 incident.
“Para once and for all ma-clear na natin kung ano talaga yung sinasabi ng mga tao,” de Sesto said.
“Syempre sasabihin natin yung nangyayari na hindi naman talaga tayo kasama sa convoy na sinasabing nagpatakas kay Sen. Bato.”
De Sesto has earlier denied claims that he escorted or helped convoy Sen. dela Rosa out of the Senate after the reported shooting incident.
While he confirmed being inside a police mobile at the time, he said it was coincidental that their vehicle exited the Senate complex at the same time on the morning of May 14.
Authorities continue to investigate the sequence of events surrounding both the Senate shooting and the disputed movements of key officials during the period.
