Suspended Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Mao Aplasca on Wednesday claimed that the CCTV footage released by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) regarding the May 13 shooting incident at the Senate was “spliced” and selectively presented to support a certain narrative.

In an ambush interview, Aplasca responded to the videos shown by Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla during a Malacañang press briefing on Tuesday.

“We are preparing the complete video. Kasi what they did, they spliced the video and they just selected the videos that will support their narrative. I think it’s not correct,” Aplasca said.

Aplasca said he has yet to face the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), adding that his lawyers advised him to request an extension.

He also denied allegations that the Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA) was withholding evidence, insisting that they are prepared to submit all necessary evidence related to the incident.

Meanwhile, the CIDG confirmed that Aplasca had surrendered his firearm, which is now undergoing ballistic examination at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Crime Laboratory.

Despite the ongoing investigation, Aplasca maintained that the Senate was “under attack” during the incident.

When asked about the possibility of charges being filed against him by the CIDG, Aplasca replied, “It is expected.”

Earlier, CIDG Director Maj. Gen. Robert Morico II presented CCTV footage allegedly showing Aplasca as the first person to fire a weapon during the May 13 shooting incident inside the Senate premises.

Last week, the Office of the Ombudsman placed Aplasca under preventive suspension for six months in connection with the gunfire incident.
