Anne Curtis is speaking out on the series of vehicular accidents that occurred recently, which tragically took the lives of many.

In an X (formerly Twitter) post, the television personality expressed her grief for the lives that were lost as a result of the accidents.

“Seeing so many vehicle accidents on the news with lives tragically taken. So many young lives being taken away so soon,” she wrote.

The actress continued, “I truly pray and hope this is a wake-up call for those in the DTO and LTO to find ways to ensure that drivers and vehicles on the roads meet the highest safety and licensing standards.”

She expressed her sympathy to “those left to grieve,” citing the family members, significant others, and children who are left behind because of the incidents.

The actress’ statement was echoed by her supporters, who stated that these accidents could have been avoided in the first place if proper protocols and standards had been met by stakeholders.

Another user recommended stronger enforcement of traffic laws and better driver education.

Last week, several people died after a bus collided with four other vehicles waiting in line at the SCTEX Toll Plaza, along its exit at Barangay Bantog, Tarlac City. Following the collision, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) directed the Land Transportation and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to issue a suspension order against 15 utility buses of the Dagupan bus, which are operated by Solid North Transit.

On Sunday, a black SUV rammed into the NAIA Terminal 1’s departure area, resulting in the death of two individuals.

Amid the chaos that ensued, DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon asked the public to respect the victims and their families. He advised refraining from taking advantage of the situation to get views online.

Following the two accidents, the DOTr required that all drivers of public utility vehicles undergo drug testing every 90 days.
