Philippine bet Angelica Lopez brought a dark and mystical touch of Filipino folklore to the Miss Grand International 2026 stage with her “Mangkukulam” national costume.
Designed by Patrick Isorena, with creative direction and styling by Vhee Co., Lopez transformed herself into a doll pierced with needles while carrying a large “mangkukulam” sculpture, drawing inspiration from the traditional Filipino folklore character associated with sorcery.
Describing the costume as more than just a pageant piece, Lopez said it was “a tribute to the stories that shaped our imagination, the traditions passed down through generations, and the powerful spirit woven into our Filipino heritage.”
“Ancient lore. Mystical power. Filipino soul,” Lopez added in her social media post.
Lopez is aiming to secure the Philippines’ third consecutive Miss Grand International crown, following the victories of Emma Tiglao and CJ Opiaza.
The Miss Grand International 2026 coronation night is set for October 10 in Bangkok, Thailand.
