Actress Angel Locsin has released an open letter addressed to Sen. Robin Padilla, recalling his past stories and questioning his positions on several national issues.
In a social media post, Locsin said she felt disheartened by Padilla’s silence when she was allegedly red-tagged, as well as by his stance on China and his expressed support for the notorious religious leader Apollo Quiboloy.
“Isa ka sa pinaka-makabayang taong nakilala. Ikaw si Andres Bonifacio. Kaya nakakalungkot pag nakakabasa ako ng stand mo pagdating sa China. Hindi ito ang Robin Padilla na nakilala at hinangaan ko,” Locsin wrote, likening the senator to revolutionary hero Andres Bonifacio while expressing disappointment over his current views.
She added that both of them came from humble beginnings and built careers that brought joy to many Filipinos, stressing that their sense of gratitude should be directed to God and the Filipino people rather than to any single individual.
Locsin also recalled Padilla’s past accounts of taking up arms in the mountains, saying she was glad to see what she described as a more candid side of the senator in his recent statements.
However, she questioned his absence during the time she faced red-tagging accusations, noting he was allegedly in the company of those making such claims.
The actress further challenged Padilla on his priorities as a lawmaker, saying many Filipinos had expected him to be a strong voice for Muslim communities but questioned why he appeared to be defending Quiboloy.
“Tama na, Kuya. Gising na. Hindi pa huli ang lahat,” Locsin said, urging the senator to reflect.
Padilla has yet to issue a public response as of posting time.
