The rope attached to the “andas” or carriage bearing the image of Jesus Nazarene broke and was replaced soon after.

The image was being carried through Quezon Boulevard when the rope was severed, according to the Quiapo Church.

At 5:40, a replacement was immediately attached.

At present, devotees are swarming the San Sebastian Church in anticipation of the traditional “dungaw,” a part of the procession wherein the image of the Nuestra Señora del Carmen de San Sebastián and the Jesus Nazarene meet.

As of 4:00 p.m., nearly 500,000 devotees have surrounded the andas.
