PAGASA officially marked the start of the Northeast Monsoon, or the Amihan season, on Monday, October 27.
According to the state weather bureau, over the past few days, their observations indicated the strengthening of a high-pressure area over East Asia, which has particularly caused a surge of northeasterly winds over Extreme Northern Luzon.
Additionally, they have also observed an increase in atmospheric pressure and cooling of the surroundings.
Forecasts also indicate surges of the monsoon over the next two weeks, which may cause rough sea conditions and shear lines in the country.
“With these developments, the Amihan is expected to be more dominant in most areas of the country, bringing cool and dry air and episodes of cold temperature surges,” the PAGASA said.
The state weather bureau assured that they will continue to monitor the country’s weather and climatic conditions.
