Pageant organizer ALV Pageant Circle on Wednesday clarified that comedienne turned beauty queen Herlene Nicole Budol will compete in different tourism pageant, and not the Miss Tourism World 2023.

Budol took home the Miss Tourism Philippines crown during the Miss Grand Philippines 2023 held last July 13.

"While we acknowledge the achievements of our reigning queen Justine Felizarta as the first runner-up in Miss Tourism World 2022, we would like to clarify that we have since eased from using the Miss Tourism Philippines title," the ALV Pageant Circle said in a statement.

The pageant organizer said beauty queens who were awarded the generic title have no "contractual obligation to any international pageant."

"Henceforth, our choice of global pageant may vary year after year, depending on the ideals and visions of the organization," it added.

ALV Pageant Circle said it will announce "very soon" the exact international pageant that the 23-year-old beauty queen will be joining.

Before being crowned as Miss Tourism Philippines 2023, Budol competed and won in the highly esteemed Binibining Pilipinas 2022 held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

She was the representative of the Philippines in Miss Planet International, but later withdrew due to "uncertainties by the organizers".
