Quezon City, April 5, 2026 — Devotees welcomed Easter Sunday with the traditional Salubong ceremonies across key parishes in Quezon City, marking the end of Holy Week and celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
At the Our Lady of Fatima Parish Church in Cordillera, the pre-dawn event featured the symbolic meeting of the Risen Christ and Virgen Alegria (Virgin of Joy), representing Christ’s resurrection and the Virgin Mary’s joy. The ceremony began at midnight following the Easter Vigil.
Other parishes, including the Parish of the Lord of Divine Mercy in Sikatuna Village and the Parish of the Holy Sacrifice at UP Campus, held their Salubong events at 4:00 a.m., drawing local faithful to participate in this solemn yet joyful tradition.
The Salubong continues to be a central Filipino Catholic tradition, uniting communities in prayer, reflection, and celebration of the Easter message of hope and renewal.
