All reported missing individuals have been accounted for following the deadly dumpsite landslide in Barangay Binaliw, Cebu City, as authorities confirmed the completion of search, rescue, and retrieval operations.

The incident has claimed at least 36 lives, based on the latest official count.

Emergency responders said systematic ground searches were carried out to ensure no victims were left beneath the debris. Firefighters, police units, disaster response teams, and partner agencies worked continuously at the site until all reported missing persons were located.

The landslide occurred at a dumpsite area that has long been identified as vulnerable due to waste accumulation and unstable ground conditions, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall. Previous safety concerns had been raised about the risks posed to nearby communities.

With rescue operations concluded, authorities have shifted to post-operation assessments, including site monitoring and safety evaluations to prevent secondary incidents. Environmental and structural reviews are also underway to determine contributing factors to the collapse.

The Cebu City government said it is coordinating assistance for the families of the victims while reviewing existing policies on dumpsite management and disaster preparedness.

Officials reiterated their commitment to strengthening safety regulations and addressing long-standing environmental risks to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
