The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has called on all local government units (LGUs) to display the Philippine flag in public spaces on August 25, 2025, in observance of "National Heroes Day," as mandated by Republic Act No. 9492.
On its social media page, the agency stated that governors, mayors, and barangay leaders are directed to ensure the proper and prominent display of the Philippine flag, in accordance with Memorandum Circular No. 2025-085.
The directive aims to promote unity and nationalism, which aligns with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.'s call for patriotism and civic responsibility, DILG said.
According to DILG, the event theme for this year is “Isang Diwa, Isang Lahi, Isang Bayanihan,” which honors the courage of both well-known and unsung Filipino heroes who fought for freedom and dignity.
The official ceremony will take place at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City, led by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines and its partner agencies.
Moreover, DILG is encouraging all Filipinos to honor the legacy of our heroes by showing service, solidarity, and love for the country.
