The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon said that all of the agency’s officials—from its central office down to the district offices—have submitted their courtesy resignations, which are now under review.
During the House Committee on Appropriations hearing on Friday, September 5, Mamamayang Liberal Partylist Rep. Leila de Lima asked whether Dizon’s call for a courtesy resignation among all DPWH executives had already been imposed.
Dizon promptly responded, stating, “A lot of people have submitted. I will double-check, but I think at least from the central office, everyone has submitted already. 100% na po. 100% na pong nag-submit…We are now in the process, Madam Chair, in reviewing.”
On his first day in office, Dizon ordered all officials from the DPWH to submit their courtesy resignations. These include the top posts from its central office down to the district level. This comes after President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s directive to “clean up” the DPWH.
“As you know, kahapon nga po, meron na po tayong mga tinanggal at pinadismiss. At makakaasa po po tayong meron mga susunod po sa mga susunod na araw at susunod na linggo,” Dizon said.
On Thursday, Dizon ordered the perpetual lifetime blacklisting of Wawao Builders and SYMS Construction Trading from the agency, including its affiliates.
Moreover, he also told reporters that he would recommend the summary dismissal of Assistant Regional Director Henry Alcantata.
In an ambush interview with reporters, Dizon clarified that he would ask the House panel to give him time to review the proposed 2026 budget for the agency.
