Convenience store brand Alfamart Philippines is now investigating viral photos and videos circulating online that show a woman inside one of the store's freezers.
In an official statement released on Friday, Alfamart stressed that they take the incident very seriously.
"This is to address the videos and photos circulating on social media that depict the unauthorized and harmful use of our store equipment. Alfamart takes this very seriously and we have already launched a thorough investigation into the matter," the company said.
Alfamart added that they are compelled to pursue legal action against those responsible for the improper use of their store equipment. This also extends to any other individuals who may imitate or adopt similar behavior.
Alfamart said it is crucial for them to protect the company’s brand and reputation.
Meanwhile, Alfamart assured the public that upon discovering the incident, they immediately removed all ice products from the freezer. The freezer was thoroughly sanitized and cleaned, and the ice was replaced with a new batch.
"We will always uphold our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of hygienic practices and safety measures to protect our valued customers," Alfamart emphasized.
Based on the viral video, the woman was being filmed by a companion, portraying the freezer as a coffin.
