Filipina tennis star Alex Eala is set to kick off her 2026 season with appearances in two major pre-Australian Open tournaments.
According to a report by dzRH TV reporter Millie Borja, Eala will take part in the Kooyong Classic in Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club sa Melbourne, Australia, scheduled from January 13 to 15, 2026.
The exhibition event, traditionally held ahead of the Australian Open, is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious warm-up tournaments in tennis, regularly featuring top-ranked and former elite players from both the men’s and women’s tours.
The 20-year-old, currently ranked world No. 33, is included in a strong Kooyong Classic lineup that boasts well-known names and former top-ranked players.
Her Melbourne stint comes on the heels of her participation in the MGM Macau Tennis Masters, another high-profile exhibition tournament that forms part of her early-season preparations.
Before heading to Australia, Eala is scheduled to compete in the WTA 250 ASB Classic in Auckland, New Zealand from January 5 to 11.
The tournament will serve as a key part of her build-up to the Australian Open.
