Filipina tennis standout Alex Eala will see action in both singles and doubles at the prestigious BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells this week.

Eala will once again partner with American junior standout Iva Jovic in the women’s doubles competition, where they are set to face the pair of Jeļena Ostapenko of Latvia and Hailey Baptiste of the United States in the first round.

Their Round of 32 encounter is scheduled for March 8 (Manila time), though the match time remains subject to change.

The Eala-Jovic tandem will be up against a formidable duo led by Ostapenko, a former Grand Slam champion who boasts nine career singles titles and 12 doubles titles on the professional tour.

Baptiste, meanwhile, has collected four career singles titles on the ITF circuit and one WTA doubles title, along with two doubles championships in WTA Challenger events.

Aside from her doubles campaign, Eala is also preparing for a tough matchup in the singles draw. The 20-year-old Filipina will take on Ukrainian player Dayana Yastremska in the Round of 64.

Yastremska secured the meeting after defeating China’s Zhang Shuai in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, during the opening round of the tournament.

Eala and Yastremska are set to clash on Saturday, March 7 (Manila time), as the Filipina rising star continues her campaign against a competitive field in one of the biggest tournaments outside the Grand Slams.
