Filipina tennis sensation Alex Eala rises to World No. 54 in the latest Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings — her highest placement to date.

The 20-year-old tennis star surpassed her previous best of No. 56 after an impressive string of performances in September, where she competed in tournaments across Mexico, Brazil, and China.

Fresh from a historic campaign at the US Open, Eala flew to Mexico to compete in the Guadalajara 125 Open, where she captured the title after outlasting Hungary’s Panna Udvardy in a thrilling final.

Eala wrapped up her month-long campaign in Asia, seeing action in the Jingshan Tennis Open and Suzhou WTA 125. She reached the semifinals in Jingshan and the quarterfinals in Suzhou, narrowly missing out on another championship appearance.

Despite the setbacks, Eala’s consistency on tour earned her 1,123 ranking points — enough to break into the Top 55 for the first time in her career.

The rising Filipina ace continues to make waves on the international tennis scene, solidifying her reputation as one of Asia’s brightest young talents in the sport.
