Filipina tennis star Alex Eala reminded a fan about respecting players after he tossed a cap toward her for an autograph following her women’s doubles match at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
In a video circulating online Wednesday, Sept. 30, Eala was seen returning to the players’ lounge at the Higashiyama Park Tennis Center when a Filipino fan from the stands threw a cap in her direction.
Eala, 21, stopped, put down her bag and picked up the cap before addressing the fan.
“Ikaw sir, hindi ka dapat nagtatapon ng mga gamit sa mga player,” Eala said.
“You say it nice and I will sign for you, pero huwag kang magtatapon, please,” she added.
The tennis star made it clear that she was willing to sign the cap but asked the fan to approach players respectfully instead of throwing items at them.
The fan immediately apologized as Alex signed his cap.
Eala later settled for a bronze medal in the women’s singles after losing to China’s Wang Xiyu, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, in the semifinals Thursday.
