Dismissed Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bulacan District Engineer Henry Alcantara and former Assistant District Engineer Brice Hernandez on Wednesday arrived at the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) office in Taguig City under tight security, as reported by RH Jecelle Ricafort.
Both officials wore bulletproof vests and were escorted by the Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA). They were later joined by former Assistant Engineer Jaypee Mendoza.
The officials faced questioning and held discussions with members of the Independent Commission. ICI Special Adviser and Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong arrived earlier in the day to oversee the proceedings.
Alcantara, Hernandez, and Mendoza declined to speak with the media upon their arrival and left shortly afterward, with Hernandez and Mendoza proceeding to the Department of Justice.
It has not yet been confirmed whether they have issued any statements to the commission.
In an ambush interview, Magalong confirmed that Hernandez will surrender his Lamborghini to the ICI within the day.
Authorities have also located Hernandez’s Ferrari, though the vehicle could not be started. Magalong said it may be transported to the ICI office via trailer truck.
The special adviser added that Hernandez committed to turning over all his luxury cars, including a GMC valued at ₱12 million that had been previously surrendered. The vehicles will remain in ICI custody pending proper disposition.
“I-custody muna ng ICI and then eventually may proper disposition naman ‘yon. Meron namang proper disposition ‘yon in accordance with [the] law,” Mayor Magalong said.
While Magalong did not specify the exact number of cars, earlier reports indicated that the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) had moved to freeze assets belonging to several personalities, including luxury vehicles worth an estimated ₱35 million tied to Hernandez.
