by Luwela Amor07 November 2025

All airports and area centers across the country have been placed on "heightened alert" as the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) braces for the possible entry of Typhoon Uwan, which may intensify into a super typhoon in the coming days.

According to the latest forecast from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Typhoon Uwan is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Friday night or early Saturday morning, November 8. And warned the public it may also make landfall at or near its peak intensity.

CAAP Director General Raul del Rosario has ordered all airport managers, particularly those in areas likely to be affected by the typhoon, to activate their emergency preparedness and response plans.

These measures are being implemented to ensure the safety of passengers, aircraft, and airport facilities, RH Jecelle Ricafort reported on DZRH's Damdaming Bayan.

Airport personnel and area centers under CAAP supervision have been instructed to closely coordinate with local disaster risk reduction offices and other concerned agencies for possible disruptions in flight operations.

This heightened alert comes just weeks after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. declared a state of national calamity due to the devastating effects of Typhoon Tino, which claimed more than 180 lives nationwide.
