AirAsia said on Sunday that it wants all of its hibernated employees, or Allstars, back in the workplace by January 1, as the company shifts to a post-pandemic recovery for business.
AirAsia spokesperson Steve Dailisan told DZRH that reactivation for the employees will begin in December.
"Starting this December, sisimulan na natin yung pag-reactivate sa kanila. Nasa 432 na mga Allstars ito, sisimulan natin 15% sa kanila, sasailalim na sa training," he said.
(Starting this December, we will start their reactivation. We are talking about 432 Allstars here, with 15% of them to start training.)
This covers pilots, cabin crews, ground staff, and engineering, according to Dailisan.
"We're looking at post-pandemic recovery na so hopefully by January 1 'yung natitira dun sa 432 ay gradually ma-integrate na ulit natin," he added.
(We’re already looking at post-pandemic recovery so hopefully, by January 1, those remaining from the 432 can be gradually reintegrated again.)
Hibernated employees were those who were temporarily removed from the company's workforce, according to the spokesperson, though they were still receiving benefits from the airline.
Ricky Isla, AirAsia Philippines chief executive officer, said in a previous statement that the company is excited to welcome the hibernated employees back.
"We are excited to welcome back our Allstars whom we’ve missed so much. More than just a source of livelihood, I know they can’t wait to paint the skies red and write with us a beautiful and winning story of our post-pandemic recovery," he said in a statement.
Dailisan and Isla said that those who will be coming back will undergo rigorous training to ensure the safety of guests traveling with the airline.
"What we want to assure our guests is that during the process of reintegration, there will be no shortcuts, and we will continue to uphold the highest standards of safety in all of our training and procedures."
