A Philippine Air Force (PAF) intelligence personnel was injured after being shot during a confrontation involving his wife and a police officer in Zamboanga City on Sunday morning.

According to the Zamboanga City Police Office, the incident happened past 9 a.m. along Montesino Street, Galvez Drive, Barangay Sta. Maria. The PAF staff sergeant reportedly noticed his wife’s vehicle parked outside an apartment occupied by a police officer assigned to the 902nd Mobile Force in Basilan.

When the air force personnel confronted his wife and the police officer, the suspect allegedly drew his firearm and shot the victim in the chest. The bullet exited through the victim’s back.

The injured airman was rushed to the nearest hospital and is now in stable condition, police said.

The police officer involved and the victim’s wife are currently in the custody of the Zamboanga PNP. Authorities are looking into a possible love triangle as the motive for the shooting, with the case referred to concerned investigating units for the filing of appropriate charges.
