Showbiz couple Aiko Melendez and Onemig Bondoc are officially engaged after nearly three decades since their love story first began.
Melendez announced the milestone on Instagram, saying their relationship took a long detour before finding its way back to each other.
“29 years later… I said YES,” Melendez wrote. “Some love stories begin with once upon a time. Ours began 29 years ago, took a very long detour, and somehow found its way back.”
The actress said she is marrying Bondoc not out of necessity or pressure, but because they genuinely choose to spend the rest of their lives together.
“The timing may not have been ours. But perhaps it was always God’s,” she added.
Bondoc, meanwhile, shared a video of his proposal on YouTube, which took place during their visit to the grave of Melendez’s late father, Jimi Melendez. In the video, Bondoc revealed that he had already sought the blessing of Melendez’s mother and children before popping the question.
The couple confirmed their romantic relationship earlier this year.
