Aiko Melendez and Zambales 1st District Rep. Jefferson “Jay” Khonghun have broken up, the actress announced through a social media post on Friday evening, October 3.

Melendez, who is also Quezon City’s fifth district Councilor, said their decision to break up was mutual. But after four months of reflection and careful consideration, she wrote, “This decision was not made lightly but comes from a place of respect and understanding of what is best for both of us at this time.”

Despite the breakup announcement, she clarified that no third party was involved and that they remain grateful for the journey they shared.

“Our focus now is to move forward with grace. He is in his continued public service, and I in mine, always guided by the values of respect, kindness, and dedication to the people we serve,” Melendez wrote.

The two asked for the public’s understanding and privacy as they navigate the transition.

Melendez and Khonghun confirmed their relationship in 2018.
