Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Henry Aguda on Wednesday kept mum on circulating rumors of his resignation.
While he is aware of talks surrounding his supposed decision to step down from office, Aguda said he remains focused on his work, especially with the upcoming Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit on AI-Powered Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (AI MSMEs).
“At this time, I remain focused on carrying out my responsibilities and ensuring the continuity of the Department’s work,” the Technology Secretary said.
“In particular, as the Philippines hosts ASEAN this year, it is important that DICT continues to effectively fulfill its role in advancing our regional engagements on technology and innovation, including the ASEAN AI MSME event this week,” he added.
Aguda said he serves “at the pleasure of the President,” adding that he respects the President’s prerogative when it comes to his Cabinet members.
“My focus remains on carrying out my responsibilities and serving the Filipino people to the best of my ability,” Aguda concluded.
The Palace also denied having knowledge of Aguda’s purported resignation, according to a report.
