The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is set to file criminal charges against individuals spreading malicious information aimed at discrediting the military, according to RH 52 Edniel Parrosa's report.

AFP Spokesperson Colonel Francel Padilla said that among those targeted are individuals or groups circulating claims about alleged P15 billion worth of 'ghost projects' in various military facilities.

Earlier, AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr. explained that some projects flagged as ‘completed’ may only be in the ‘phasing’ stage, which could explain why certain facilities were found unfinished or substandard.

In a press briefing at Camp Aguinaldo, Padilla stressed that the military does not directly handle the funds for the Tatag ng Imprastraktura para sa Kapayapaan at Seguridad (TIKAS) project, which is implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The AFP is currently in the process of consolidating documents and reports in preparation for its legal action.

Aside from disinformation on so-called ‘ghost military projects,’ the AFP had earlier announced plans to file complaints against retired military personnel allegedly involved in efforts to discredit the armed forces.
