The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Friday reaffirmed its commitment to the Constitution and the country's duly constituted civilian authority while condemning attempts to involve the military in partisan political activities.

In a statement, the AFP emphasized that its primary duty is to remain professional and non-partisan amid the country's current political tensions.

"The AFP strongly condemns any attempt to drag the organization into partisan politics, as its unwavering commitment to the Constitution remains paramount," the military said.

The AFP also assured the public that it will continue to fulfill its constitutional mandate.

"The AFP will continue to support lawful government efforts to uphold peace and order, protect national security, and safeguard the rights and welfare of all Filipinos," the statement added.

The military issued the statement as political tensions continue to rise ahead of the upcoming impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, reiterating its loyalty to constitutional processes and civilian leadership.
