The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has assured the public that it is prepared to deploy its expertise and available assets to assist in the possible repatriation of Filipinos from the Middle East amid escalating tensions and restricted airspace, including disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz.

Speaking at Camp Aguinaldo, Roy Vincent Trinidad, Philippine Navy Inspector General and spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea (WPS), said contingency planning is ongoing in coordination with other government agencies.

He acknowledged, however, that the AFP has yet to determine the specific assets that will be utilized for repatriation efforts, noting that the government is studying multiple options beyond military resources.

Despite uncertainties, the military has placed key assets on standby. Philippine Air Force (PAF) spokesperson Ma. Christina Basco said mobility aircraft such as the C-130 can be deployed if needed to transport affected overseas Filipinos. Meanwhile, Philippine Navy spokesperson Marissa Martinez cited the possible deployment of naval vessels equipped with landing platforms to support evacuation operations.

Authorities said around 1,400 Filipinos in the Middle East have already expressed their intention to return home as tensions in the region intensify.

The AFP emphasized that preparations are part of a broader whole-of-government approach to ensure the safe and orderly return of Filipinos should the security situation further deteriorate.
