The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said on Tuesday that it is looking into reports of Filipinos being recruited for the Ukraine war.
AFP Spokesperson Col. Francel Padilla, however, said the German Embassy in Manila has denied this, reported RH 52 Edniel Parrosa.
This came after Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova’s purported statement alleging that the United States is recruiting former servicemen from the Philippines, with the German Embassy issuing visas to individuals chosen for deployment.
Padilla reminded the public that the spread of disinformation has become a common occurrence.
The military has also informed the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) of details pertinent to the matter.
