AFP confirms presence of moving 6x6 structure with personnel at Bajo de Masinloc
by Elijah Gaven Mitra08 June 2026

Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. confirmed that the military has monitored a “moving” 6x6 structure at Bajo de Masinloc, raising renewed concerns over activities in the disputed area.

Speaking to reporters during an ambush interview at Camp Aguinaldo, Brawner revealed that aerial surveillance conducted by the Philippine Air Force showed several individuals stationed on top of the structure.

“So it's a 6x6 structure na parang sa tingin natin may antena siya,” Brawner said. “Tapos dun sa latest na image na nakuha nung ating Philippine Air Force na lumipad over the Bajo de Masinloc, may mga tao sa taas. May mga tao, may anim na tao dun sa structure na yun.”

The AFP chief described the structure as being located “sa gitna” ng Bajo de Masinloc and emphasized that authorities are closely monitoring the situation to prevent any further expansion or permanent installation in the area.

“Hindi natin papayagang maulit ang nangyari noon na may itinayong maliit na structure, and then later on, lumaki pa siya,” Brawner warned.

The development comes amid continuing tensions and territorial disputes in the West Philippine Sea, where Philippine authorities have repeatedly raised concerns over the presence of foreign vessels and structures within the country’s exclusive economic zone.

The AFP said it remains committed to safeguarding Philippine sovereignty and monitoring all activities within the contested waters.
