All affected transmission lines in Southwestern Mindanao have been fully restored, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said, following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that jolted Mindanao.
As of 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 9, the NGCP announced the full restoration of the affected transmission lines near the epicenter of the earthquake that occurred on Monday.
Meanwhile, power transmission services were fully restored in South Cotabato, Sarangani, and General Santos City at 1:38 PM on Tuesday.
The Department of Energy (DOE) welcomed the full restoration.
“The DOE, through its Task Force on Energy Resiliency, emphasizes that restoration was carried out swiftly but safely, ensuring that all system reconnections and validations were completed without compromising personnel safety and grid stability,” the DOE said in a statement.
Following this development, agencies shifted their focus to distribution utilities (DUs) still experiencing partial power interruptions, as field teams continue the restoration and validation work on the ground.
Meanwhile, the DOE announced that the Kalamansig Diesel Power Plant was also restored to operation at 9:35 AM on Monday, following the temporary outage caused by the earthquake.
