A school in Abra tapped as a polling site for the upcoming national and local elections was destroyed in a blaze early Wednesday morning.

According to Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Chair George Garcia, 70 percent of the Dangdangla Elementary School in Bangued was consumed by the fire, which began around 4 AM.

Subsequently, the final testing and sealing (FTS) of the automated counting machines (ACM) has been put on hold. Garcia noted that the ACMs have yet to be delivered to the voting center.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.
