Abdulraof Macacua elected as first BARMM Chief Minister

Abdulraof “Sammy Gambar” A. Macacua has been elected as the new Chief Minister of the First Regular Bangsamoro Government after securing 51 votes during the First Plenary Session of the Bangsamoro Parliament on Friday, October 30.
Macacua defeated interim Chief Minister Ahod B. Ebrahim, who received 27 votes.
The election was held at the Parliament Plenary Hall in Cotabato City, marking a new chapter in the governance of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) following its seven-year transition period.
The Bangsamoro Government congratulated Macacua on his election, expressing hope that his leadership would advance peace, justice, prosperity, and inclusive development in the region.
His election ushers in the first regular government of BARMM following the completion of its transitional governance period.
