Newly-appointed Cabinet Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. personally offered his and the President’s condolences to the family of a motorcycle taxi rider who was stabbed to death this week.
Abalos visited rider Fabio Norberte Jr.’s burial on Friday to extend President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s condolences to the family he had left behind.
During his visit, Abalos mourned with Norberte’s loved ones and assured them the government would not neglect them during this time of grief. The official also provided aid and gathered with the deceased rider’s family to learn their other, immediate needs.
Moreover, Abalos stressed that Norberte’s killer must be held accountable and told the family they can count on justice prevailing in their case.
Abalos also vowed to personally support Norberte’s young son, who has autism, and attend to his needs so that his family may recover from this tragedy.
According to Caloocan police, the suspect in the stabbing and carnapping incident was, until recently, incarcerated over robbery charges. At present, he is detained in a Malabon City jail, where he is also facing a separate case.
