Seven vehicles were involved in a collision along España Boulevard at the corner of Padre Noval Street in Sampaloc, Manila, on Friday evening, September 11, leaving eight people injured, the Manila City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department said.

In a Facebook post, the Manila City DRRM said the vehicles involved were two buses, two SUVs, one jeepney, one e-jeep and a motorcycle.

Initial reports indicated that one of the buses reportedly lost its brakes and crashed into vehicles stopped at the traffic light, triggering a chain-reaction collision.

Eight people were injured in the incident, sustaining various injuries, including possible leg fractures. Seven of the injured were transported to different hospitals for medical treatment, while one declined evacuation.

Authorities temporarily closed a portion of España Boulevard to traffic as emergency responders attended to the injured and cleared the area.

The collision caused heavy traffic along the busy thoroughfare.

Police are investigating the incident to determine what caused the bus to continue moving despite the traffic stop.

The bus driver is facing a complaint for reckless imprudence resulting in physical injuries and damage to property. Further charges may be filed depending on the results of the investigation.
