Eight crew members, including the boat captain, were rescued after their motorized banca partially submerged off Dalupiri Island in Calayan, Cagayan, on October 31, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.
The Coast Guard Station (CGS) Calayan Search and Rescue (SAR) Team confirmed that all eight crew members aboard M/B Rose Marie 1 were accounted for and safely rescued upon reaching the incident site.
Five crew members were initially brought to the shoreline of Barangay Magsidel before being transported to the Calayan Rural Health Unit (RHU) for medical assessment. All five were found to be in good physical condition.
A second SAR team aboard M/B Lagadan 1 assisted in the towing operations and transported the remaining three crew members to shore.
Medical personnel found that one of the three sustained a lacerated wound on the right knee and was also assessed for suspected hypertension. The other two were likewise assessed for suspected hypertension.
The PCG said all eight crew members received medical assessment and assistance following the incident.
The Coast Guard reaffirmed its commitment to maritime safety and the protection of lives at sea through prompt search and rescue operations.
