A total of 79 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) have safely returned to their home country from Kuwait and Russia, announced the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) on Sunday, July 19.

The repatriates touched down at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminals 1 and 3 early Sunday morning.

Of the 79 OFWs, 61 were from Kuwait—60 from the Sulaibiya Deportation Center and one who voluntarily reached out to OWWA—and 18 came in from Russia.

Upon their arrival, representatives of OWWA and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) welcomed them and offered assistance through the distribution of food, financial and transportation aid—including domestic flight and land transportation aid—and temporary lodging for those in need of it.

Moreover, the OWWA assured that it will assist in the OFWs’ reintegration into the Philippine workforce to empower them to begin afresh and secure their families’ futures.

“Hindi nagtatapos sa kanilang ligtas na pag-uwi ang suporta ng pamahalaan. Sa pamamagitan ng Alagang OWWA, patuloy na inihahanda ang mga programa sa reintegration, kabuhayan, pagsasanay, at iba pang intervention upang matulungan silang makapagsimula muli at makapagpatuloy sa pagbuo ng mas matatag na kinabukasan para sa kanilang mga pamilya,” OWWA said in a press release.

Moves to ensure repatriates’ social protection is in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directives to make sure each is given sufficient support, protections, and opportunities prior to leaving the country, while overseas, and upon returning.
