About 70% of Filipinos oppose the involvement of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in political affairs, according to the latest Tugon ng Masa (TNM) survey conducted by OCTA Research for the third quarter of 2025.
The nationwide survey revealed that only 5% of respondents agreed to military intervention in politics, while 22% remained undecided. The strongest opposition came from Mindanao (79%), followed by the National Capital Region (78%), and Visayas (71%).
According to OCTA, the findings underscore the public’s continuing trust in the AFP’s professionalism and non-partisanship, affirming that confidence in the institution is rooted in its apolitical stance rather than involvement in political disputes.
Meanwhile, the survey also found that 80% of Filipinos expressed strong support for democracy, reflecting the people’s firm commitment to civilian authority and constitutional governance.
The TNM survey was conducted from September 25 to 30, 2025, through face-to-face interviews with 1,200 adult respondents nationwide. It has a ±3% margin of error at a 95% confidence level.
