A 70-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a delivery van in Tondo, Manila on Monday morning.

According to RH 23 Boy Gonzales, the victim was identified by the Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit (MDTEU) as a resident in the area.

Initial investigation shows that the incident occurred at around 7:50 a.m. along the northbound lane of Jose Abad Santos Avenue corner Bambang Street. A Mitsubishi L300 van driven by Bernie Banga Paller was traversing the road when it hit the victim, who was crossing from west to east.

Due to the impact, the victim was thrown several meters away from the point of collision. Responding personnel from the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) declared her dead on arrival.

The victim’s remains are currently under the care of Sanctuary Funeral Services, while authorities continue their investigation into the incident.
