Seven Grade 5 students were injured after allegedly being stabbed by a Grade 8 student using a kitchen knife inside a private school in Barangay Sta. Clara on Tuesday morning, according to General Trias City Mayor Jon-Jon Ferrer.

In a Facebook post, Ferrer said local authorities, including the General Trias Philippine National Police (PNP), City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD), and the Department of Education (DepEd), immediately responded to the incident to assess the situation and launch an investigation.

Classes were suspended, in line with standard school safety protocols following the incident.

The victims were immediately brought to nearby hospitals, where two students underwent surgery due to the severity of their injuries.

"Agad po tayong nagtungo sa naturang paaralan kasama ang mga kinatawan ng General Trias PNP, CSWD, at DepEd para alamin ang sitwasyon at tiyakin ang pagbibigay ng agarang tugon at pagsasagawa ng imbestigasyon," Ferrer said.

He added that the local government has already visited the victims and their families and pledged assistance for their medical expenses.

The CSWD has been directed to provide psychosocial intervention and other forms of support for affected students who may have experienced trauma.

Authorities also confirmed that the student involved has been assessed and brought to a mental health institution for further evaluation.

Ferrer emphasized that although the suspect is a minor, the local government strongly condemns the incident and is tightening safety measures in both public and private schools, including stricter bag inspections.

"Bagama’t ang sangkot ay menor de edad, mariin po nating binibigyang-diin na hindi katanggap-tanggap ang ganitong uri ng insidente," he said, stressing the city’s commitment to maintaining safety, order, and security in schools and communities.
