A 64-year-old man was arrested by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) after allegedly opening fire recklessly in Barangay Loyola Heights, endangering neighbors and property. The suspect, identified only as Alexander, was apprehended during a hot pursuit operation conducted by operatives from the Anonas Police Station.
Police investigations revealed that Alexander had repeatedly fired at a neighbor’s SUV, an act that reportedly caused a fire after hitting a butane torch inside the vehicle. Following the incident, he attempted to flee in his car but was eventually intercepted by authorities at Baesa Town Center past midnight.
QCPD Director PBGEN Randy Glenn Silvio confirmed that authorities recovered from the suspect a .45 caliber pistol with five magazines and 39 rounds, along with ₱33,000 in cash, mobile phones, identification cards, and other documents.
The senior citizen, who reportedly had prior disputes with his neighbor, is now detained at the Anonas Police Station while charges for reckless endangerment and illegal possession of firearms are being prepared. Police continue to investigate the motive and any potential connections to other incidents in the area.
Authorities reminded the public that reckless handling of firearms, regardless of age, poses serious risks to community safety and emphasized that anyone involved in similar acts will face strict legal consequences.
