Majority of Filipinos continue to trust and express satisfaction with the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the first quarter of 2026, according to a nationwide survey conducted by OCTA Research.

Based on the “Tugon ng Masa” survey, 63% of respondents said they trust the PNP, while 61% reported being satisfied with its overall performance.

The survey revealed notable differences in trust and satisfaction levels across regions. The highest ratings were recorded in Mindanao, where trust reached 74% and performance satisfaction stood at 69%.

The Visayas followed with 66% trust and 63% satisfaction, while the National Capital Region (NCR) posted the lowest figures at 54% trust and 52% satisfaction.

Results also showed higher trust levels among respondents from Class D and Class E, while lower ratings were observed among Class A, B, and C groups.

The survey was conducted from March 19 to 25, 2026, through face-to-face interviews with 1,200 respondents aged 18 and above. It carries a ±3% margin of error at a 95% confidence level.

Subnational estimates for NCR, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao have a ±6% margin of error at the same confidence level.

Meanwhile, the PNP welcomed the survey results, saying the figures reflect continued public trust in their mandate to maintain peace and order.

In a statement, PNP Chief PGen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. expressed gratitude to the public and said the results serve as motivation to further improve police services.

“Para sa PNP, ang survey na ito ay nagsisilbing paalala at inspirasyon upang lalo pang pagbutihin ang pagbibigay-serbisyo at patuloy na maisabuhay ang layunin ng isang Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman,“ Nartatez said.

He emphasized efforts to strengthen police visibility, improve response times, and enhance community engagement.

The PNP chief also linked the agency’s direction to its campaign, “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman.”

The findings place the PNP among the government agencies with relatively strong public confidence ratings.
