Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon has ordered the suspension of six employees from the DPWH Baguio City District Engineering Office, led by District Engineer Rene Zarate, over alleged rigging, fixing, and manipulation of bidding processes in infrastructure projects in Baguio City.

The suspended employees were given five days to explain why they should not face administrative charges in connection with the alleged irregularities.

According to Secretary Dizon, the suspension is part of the agency’s compliance with President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.’s directive to hold accountable those involved in anomalous public works projects.

“Ang pagsuspinde ay tugon sa utos ng Pangulo na pananagutin ang mga dapat managot sa mga maanomalyang proyekto ng ahensya,” said in a Facebook post of DPWH.

The DPWH said further investigation is underway to determine the extent of the alleged irregularities and the possible involvement of other personnel.
